Roughly 70,000 ARMY packed the stadium for the opening night of BTS’s Los Angeles run on the ARIRANG World Tour. It marked the group’s first full-group shows in the city since the Permission to Dance concerts nearly five years earlier. The timing made the evening personal: September 1 is Jungkook’s actual birthday. The members paused the set for a full celebration that included singing, a dramatic bow from the birthday boy, and the stadium lighting up in gold for the “Golden Maknae.”
For global fans who may have missed the Korean coverage, this LA stand sits inside a much larger return. After all seven members completed military service, BTS released the album ARIRANG in March 2026. It opened with more than 640,000 equivalent album units in the United States, sent the lead single “Swim” to No. 1 on the Hot 100, and launched an 80-plus-date world tour that began in Korea and is now closing its North American leg. The four SoFi nights (September 1, 2, 5 and 6) sold out months ago and close that leg before the group heads to Latin America.
Online, the clip of Jungkook handing over the crown and shirt drew an outpouring of recognition. Fans called it “so Jungkook,” noting the same instinct that has shown up in earlier tours when he left the stage to greet fans who could not easily reach the barricade.
