LE SSERAFIM’s Hong Eunchae Keeps Perfect Streak as Doosan Bears Rally After Her First Pitch

Hong Eunchae walked onto the mound at Seoul’s Jamsil Baseball Stadium on August 29 in athletic gear, delivered a steady ceremonial first pitch for the Doosan Bears against the Kiwoom Heroes, then stayed through the final out. The Bears trailed by a run before the LE SSERAFIM maknae led fans in a chant set to the group’s track “BOOMPALA.” Doosan answered with a 7-2 win.

That result pushed Eunchae’s record to four ceremonial appearances and four victories. She first appeared in 2022 alongside groupmate Kim Chaewon; Doosan won that night too. Last March she handled the home opener alone and the Bears took the game. Earlier this month she threw her first pitch in Japan for the Chiba Lotte Marines, who responded with an 8-0 shutout. Baseball fans in Korea now call her the “victory fairy,” a nickname that has stuck across both leagues.

For international listeners still catching up: Eunchae, born November 10, 2006, is the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM, the HYBE-affiliated group that debuted in May 2022 with “Fearless.” She previously co-hosted the music program Music Bank for more than a year and has co-written tracks for the group. LE SSERAFIM is currently on the Japan leg of its “Pureflow” world tour and will release its second single album, Made My Night, on September 11. The concept centers on the chemistry among the five members; the music video drops at midnight KST, followed by the digital and physical release at 1 p.m. Pre-orders opened August 28.

Across X, Fearnots from Brazil, France, Italy and elsewhere posted video clips of the pitch and the post-game celebrations within hours. Many noted the four-for-four streak and joked that teams should simply book Eunchae whenever they need a win. Korean fans shared clips of her returning to the dorm in full uniform, still singing the team’s cheer.

The consensus was simple: the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM keeps proving that her love for the game carries more than just good vibes.
